Curiosity

We cannot say that black people aren't intelligent...some of the most brilliant minds are Black. I believe perhaps it definitely has to do more with the society they grow up in, the culture they grow up in, rather than their skin color.

Heck, look at India. Many Indians have dark skin and are very good at chess, but the culture loves the game to pieces as well.
No-one said that. But then to say that race is skin color is ridiculous. Because some Indians have dark skin that doesn't make them Africans. In fact Indians are closely related to Europeans genetically speaking. Neither being politically correct nor not being afraid by political correctness gives you the truth automatically. You need to understand things, there is no shortcut based on general principles.
#10 I would report you, but mods in lichess do nothing, so I won't. And this is not racist. This is being logical and using statistics, rather then "My mom told this is racist, so I can not say it". The thing is, it is both - race and genetics. There are less black proffesional players, and there is a reason for that. Black people in AVERAGE (note AVERAGE) are less interested in activities like chess. It's because of BOTH - their culture and genetics. Why is that? Well, I think you should go back to school and study history a little bit. Different races have different history. Which lead to different culture and a little bit different genes. Nothing wrong about that. They are just good at different things. For example, black people are on AVERAGE better at physical activity then Europids, Indiands are better at making deals on AVERAGE and europeans are better at decision making on AVERAGE.

#12 You have the correct idea, but lack knowledge. Indians are Mongolids, which is totally different race from Europids. As different as it gets. Though you are correct about skin color.
You can not generalise and link genetics to intelligence.

THAT IS RACISM.
#14 Look, I dont have an opinion on the matter but what you are saying is a bit biased. I mean noone knows the truth anyway and they are just stating theories, and you come up with this racist thing but in all honesty this is an irrelevant remark.
I mean if it is proved someday that genetics played some role on this result what will you say then?
If you believe that genetics are irrelevant in this particular situation state your arguments, rather than making empty statements of the type" this is racism"
It really gets on my nevres when people try to be ethical and pretend they care about the truth, because the truth of something is beyond ethics, and you may like it or not, you may think its fair or unfair, but all of this is irrelevant. You have to put your feelings aside and think with a clear and unprejudiced mind.
Having said all that and without actually knowing anything on this subject I would say the main reasons for what you guys are discussing here, are probably social.
#15 Completly agree with you. That guy uses no arguments, does not give any links to prove his view, nothing! Again, he just says "ITS RACIST U STUPID, I KNOW MY MUM SAID SO". I think the reason why there are so many people like that, is that we don't teach argumentology or debates in school. Sad.

So know, if I said that women are worse then men at chess, because of genetical reasons, would you call me sexist? And what if I said, that women are more patient, more accurate and better at drawing. Would I be discriminating men?
#17 Let's not get any further from the actual topic. Especially then it comes to links between races.
It is simply because majority of the colored population live in LEDCs where they have a lot to struggle about and have not been exposed to chess as developed countries have. And just about all of us play during our leisure time, which when you are struggling to earn enough you will not have much of, like them. Also, without computers and necessary resources, you will be not be able to progress to that level. Please quit with the genetics, with a huge gene pool of billions of colored people I don't see how you can claim them not to have chess prodigies.
#19 Well, I am done saying "on average". Someone will not understand it anyways.
