New rating adjustments

Why the did the averall rating get adjusted to a higher level? It is really confusing that everybody received higher rating all of the sudden.

Is there a specific reason for it?
There should have probably been some form of announcement, yes.

But privately, there has been some discussion to move lichess' rating system from the ELO system to the Glicko 2 system. The advantage of moving over to the Glicko 2 rating system is that a player's rating will become more stable the more they play games amongst some other advantages. This, compared to ELO - that only calculates player ratings on a per-game basis - a user's rating can fluctuate over a 100 points in only a handful of losses or wins.

The reason that player's ratings have overall been increased is a separate issue. Compared to other websites and organisations, lichess' rating system (on average) rated players significantly lower, usually making players think they are worse than they actually are.
Also would it be possible to re-scale the graph view since everyone is now appearing off the top of it.
Screen-shot or example please, I haven't come across this issue.
Yes, on other sites I have even reached around 2200 and my fast chess ratings on WCN peaked at 2300. Here, on lichess with older ratings I never reached 1700...
Sorry what I wrote was wrong. Most appear fine but anyone rated over 2000 (which is around 1500 people) are too highly rated to properly appear on the graph. This wan't too much of an issue before but because of the ratings bump it now a bit annoying.
