Sometimes a guy playing black cancels a game after my first move with blank. This allows someone to avoid openings he doesn't like ! Why is that possible ??
I don't remember the reason why I resigned the second game - that was in March !
The first game you mentionned, indeed, is the situation I had in mind.
But notice the two cases are quite different : by resigning I lost rating points (and this is normal, of course), but in the first game nothing happened to the guy who cancelled.

I use to resign a game to play against a less strong player if I haven´´ t got a chance to win. This is my strategy to gain points while the clock is running.

If you're playing an opponent whose rating you do not like, you should probably not have included that rating in the challenge. Aborting such games just wastes your and your opponent's time.
